STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN SPEAKING ENGLISH AT GRADE VIII IN SMP SWASTA KARYA MURNI SIDIHONI

This research aim to find out the types of students’ motivation and the level of students’ motivation. This study was carried out at SMP Swasta Karya Murni Sidihoni and conducted by using Descriptive Qualitative Method. The data were gathered by observing and distributing questionnaire to twenty-seven students class A. The result of the study were: 1) the types of students’ motivation in learning English speaking of eighth grade in SMP Swasta Karya Murni Sidihoni is intrinsic and extrinsic. It was found that most of students has the intrinsic motivation, the intrinsic motivation more dominant found in students itself when they learn Englis language (speaking) than the extrinsic motivation; 2) the level of students’ motivation when learn English language is high level, it presented from the total of mean score for students’ motivation is 4.21.
