DEVELOPING CANVA AS TEACHING MEDIA FOR TEACHING RECOUNT TEXT WRITING AT GRADE EIGHT OF SMP NEGERI 1 BINJAI KABUPATEN LANGKAT

The objective of this study is to develop Canva as teaching media for teaching recount text writing at grade eight of SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Kabupaten Langkat. Research and Development (R & D) method by Borg and Gall (2003) is used to conduct this study. The data of this research were obtained from interview and questionnaire. The sources of the data of this research were from 32 students at eighth grade in the second semester of academic year 2022/2023, media expert and material expert. The result of need analysis questionnaire showed that the students need an audio-visual media to help them comprehending the material and improving their writing skills in writing recount text. As the result, the researcher developed Canva as teaching media for teaching recount text writing at grade eight of SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Kabupaten Langkat. The score from validators was 92,5% and it was categorized as “excellent”. It means that the teaching media was well developed and feasible to be a teaching media for teaching recount text writing at grade eight of SMP Negeri 1 Binjai Kabupaten Langkat.
