Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop English writing worksheet of descriptive text
based on scientific approach by using lectora inspire grade VII. This study was
conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design from Borg and
Gall (2003) through six stages: gathering information and data, analyzing data,
designing materials, validating by experts, revising and final product. The subject
of the study was grade VII students of SMP Swasta Imelda Medan. The data were
gathered by interviewing the English teacher, observing handbook, syllabus and
the teaching and learning process and distributing questionnaires to 15
respondents to get the students’ needs. The results of gathering the data prove that
the students needs English writing worksheet which can motivate and encourage
the students to write easily in English. The result of the product was a writing
worksheet based on six stages in scientific approach. The score of validation from
the validator was 95.3% and it was categorized as very good or relevant.
