Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the inquiry learning model based on the conceptual blending on student learning outcomes. This study uses a quasi-experimental method by providing pre-test and post-test. The research population was class XI students of SMA Negeri 14 Medan academic year 2022/2023. The sample was taken by using the cluster random sampling technique which consists of experimental class that is given inquiry learning based on mixing concepts and control class with conventional learning. The instrument used to measure student learning outcomes on sound waves is a multiple choice test. Assessment of student learning activities carried out in the experimental class during learning. And the test conducted to analyze the data is the t-test. The result of the two tailed t-test showed -1.997<0.4154<1.997. The ability of the two classes before being given treatment is the same. The results of the one-tailed t-test showed 1.7>1.669 with a probability of 0.05. Pre-test experimental class consisting of 35 students was 30.29. Pre-test of control class consisting of 32 students was 31.56. After being given treatment, post-test for experimental class students was 70 and control class was 64.69. And the experimental class activity was 69.88. This shows that the inquiry learning with the conceptual blending improve student learning outcomes. Inquiry learning is better than conventional learning to find a solution to a problem. Students' skills in solving problems are getting better. Inquiry learning encourages students to learn independently and be more active through the problems presented.
