Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) model of environmental change and conservation topic on test results of students of SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi. The population of the research is all grade X MIA of SMA Negeri 1 Berastagi and the sample consists of two groups of students (36 students each). The pretest result shows that the two group are similar. The experiment group (PBL) result (32.32) is not significantly higher (than the control group (30.19). The initial test shows similar tendency. The posttest result shows quite different where the PBL group of students do better, has a higher test result (77.49) compared to its counter-part group (71.39) with a standard deviation of 8.22. It is accepted that the PBL model can be used to improve student’s test result in the environmentasl change and conservation topic in this group of students.
