Abstract
The objective of this qualitative research were (1) to investigate types of code switching use by male and female in Malay language-Bahasa Indonesia on facebook, (2) to describe linguistics realization of code switching use by male and female in Malay language-Bahasa Indonesia on facebook, and (3) reason for the use of code switching on facebook. The samples were from transcriptions of facebook interaction of 5 females and 5 males from Panipahan. The instruments of this study are observation and an interview. The data collected were the language used by male and female in Malay language-Bahasa Indonesia on facebook. The data were analyzed by using the theory of code-switching. The findings of this study were (1) the five types of code switching are found, they are intrasentential switching, Intersentential switching, tag switching, situational code switching, and methapor. And the female dominantly used code switching, (2) the female and the male have different ways using code switching, and (3) both male and female have the same reason using code switching on facebook
