Abstract
We have development a problem solving based physics learning anded. This model was developed by using R and D method including by 4-D steps, they are define, design, develop and disseminate. Knowing the efectivity of physics learning model based on problem solving to develop student’s cognition and metacognition. Limited test had done about applying of physics learning model based on problem solving in General Physics learning in university. Subject in this study is two class of student in one of universities in Medan for academic year 2013/2014 consist of 47 students in experiment class and 39 control class. In this test, used method is experimental by design of Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data of learning outcomes in cognitive side is collected by multiple choice test and metacognition ability collected by essay test. The learning outcomes efectivity in cognition and metacognition of student were judged by compared mean value normalizing, N-gain. Result test show that using of physics learning model based on problem solving with video about Kinematical Particle is effective to increase learning outcomes in cognition and metacognition of students and included in “medium chategory”.
