Speech Function in Acehnese Poem by Teuku Abdullah Sakti

The thesis dealt with Speech Function in Acehnese Poem by Teuku Abdullah Sakti. The objectives of this study were to find out the types of Speech Function, to investigate the speech functions realized in moods and elaborate the speech functions realize for the way they are. The study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of the study were taken from 4 poems first Dara malaih, Doda Idi, Aceh leubeh peng and Timang-timang. The data analysis were taken by analyzed and classified into four types of speech functions in the procedures namely Statement, Question, Command and Offer. The data were analyzed based on the theory proposed by Halliday. This study found that the speech functions identified in the poems were 168 clause, 128 statements (76%) as the first majority, 6 question (3, 5%) as the second majority, 20 command (12%) as the third majority and 14 Offer (8.3%) This study found There were 168 items, namely statements 128 items (76%), question 6 items (3,5%), 20 command items (12%), and offers 14 items (8,3%). Statement as the most dominant type of speech function that used in Acehnese Poem by Teuku Abdullah Sakti it was mean give information, the way of the poem to deliver the information about Aceh and its culture.
