Abstract
The study is concerned to find out code-mixing of Bataknese language among Batak toba People into Indonesian language at Pasar Sambu Baru Medan. The objectives of research were to find out: (1) the type of insertion of code mixing occur in Batak toba language into Indonesian language at Pasar Sambu Baru Medan. (2) the factors of Batak Toba people mix Batak toba language into Indonesian language in communication at Pasar Sambu Baru Medan. The source of this research is Batak toba people at Pasar Sambu Baru Medan. This research applied qualitative research design. The instruments of data collection used tape recorder to interview and observe the subject. The result shows that (1) the occurrences of the code mixing in the insertions of word, phrase, reduplication, and clause. It reveals the most frequent insertion is word which is 13 times or 43%, then phrase 9 times or 30%, then clause 5 times or 17%, and the last is reduplication 3 times or 10% and The Type of Code Mixing is dominately Inner Code Mixing . (2) the factors of Batak toba people mix batak toba language into Indonesian language because speaker partner and situation.
