Abstract
In the early 2020s, the United States established Indonesia as a developed country, whereas according to the United Nations Development Program and World Bank measures, Indonesia was still in the category of developing countries. Based on this, by using a literature study, this article wants to review how the characteristics that distinguish a developed or developing
country, why Indonesia has not been able to become a developed country, what problems have faced Indonesia so far, and what strategies should be done by Indonesia to become a developed country. The results prove that
developed and developing countries have differences in carrying out human development. Problems faced by Indonesia in the aspects of health, education, and living standards are related, among others, to the distribution and financing of services, and the country's efforts to create jobs and encourage production and consumption. The findings imply the need to improve the quality of policies and institutional capabilities of public services oriented towards equitable distribution and improvement of service
quality of the basic needs of the community towards meeting human development standards.
