Developing Picture Series Media For Teaching Procedural Text of SMP Swasta Angkasa Lanud Soewondo

This research aimed at developing series of picture as an interesting, easy to learn and can be used in teaching writing procedure text media. This study is developmental research used Borg and Gall model. The subjects of this research are 11 students of Lanud Soewondo Medan junior high school. The evaluators of the media are two experts from State University of Medan and Lanud Soewondo junior high school. The instruments used in this study are observation, questionnaire, and test. The finding of the study is the quality of the developed media viewed by the experts as “Sangat baik”. The samples are 11 student which are given a series of pictures of setting up a PC. Test were administrated to measure students’ ability in writing procedural text by using series of pictures and also for the product test. The scoring system was based on five aspects; content, organization, vocabulary, language use, mechanics. The result shows that there was an increase of students’ ability in writing procedural text by using series of picture as medium. Therefore, the writer suggest to English teacher to develop series of picture as one of the alternative ti increase students’ procedural text writing ability.
