Abstract
Gender differentiation make a different characteristic between male and female in language. Men and women have their own language characters.Male and female are different in affecting the language, it is because of the gender differentiation. Due to this problem, the researcher find out the linguistic characteristic in narrative text written by male and female. A narrative is used to tell stories or to entertain the listeners or the readers while.Thistypes of genres are possible for the occurrences of linguistic characteristic of writting gender. It has been described that text is structured with reference to the social context.This research using descriptive qualitative. By asked student to write a narrative text.Words in the text taken as the data.This research focus on lexicogrammar of narrative text proposed by Peter Knapp, 2005.It was found that male and female students have different characteristics in their writing. The linguistic characteristics of narrative text written by male and female students are action verb, mental verb, temporal conjunction, repetisionin their writing and past tense. The linguistic characteristics by male students realized dominan used action verb and female studentsdominan use mental verb. The reason for the use of linguistic features are attributed to the nature and purpose of communication by male and female. In nature male usually acting and female usually thinking. But in communication female usually contest and female usually make communications
