External and Internal Conjunctions in the News Story Text of the Jakarta Post

This study describes the external and internal conjunctions in the news story text of the
Jakarta Post. The objectives of this study were (1) to analyze external and internal
conjunctions in the news story text of the Jakarta Post. (2) to describe the realization of
external and internal conjunctions in the news story text of the Jakarta Post, and (3) to
explain the reasons of the used of external and internal conjunctions in the news story
text of the Jakarta Post. The research method is a qualitative descriptive content analysis.
This study used a purposive sampling to determine the sample by certain
consideration. Documentary technique was conducted for technique of data
collection. The data were analyzed by using Miles, Huberman and Saldana. The result
of this study revealed that: (1)The types of external and internal conjunctions there were
external addition, external consequence, external time, external comparison, internal
addition, internal time and new finding external place. (2)The external and internal
conjunctions describes in clause complex news text used to clause complex have
several clauses consist of independent clause is an equal (paratactic) and clause
complex have several clauses consist of independent clause relate with dependent
clause is an unequal (hypotactic). (3) The reasons of used external conjunction were
logically organized sequences of activities, things, event happens and logically
organized waves of arguments in the news text of the Jakarta Post.
