Abstract
This study deals with media in teaching writing descriptive text paragraph in the tenth grade students. The objectives of the study were to develop an outline platform called Animaker as the teaching media in writing descriptive text for the tenth grade students of vocational high school, and to improve the writing skill of the tenth grade students of vocational high school. The study used Research and Development (R&D) method. R & D is adapted from industry-based development model in which the results of the research will be taken to create new products or procedures, which then are systematically implemented, evaluated, and revised to meet specified criteria of effectiveness, quality, or similar standards (Borg & Gall,
2003:569). The subject of the study is the tenth grade students of Vocational High School of Pharmaca Medan. In collecting data, the researcher applied the combination of two techniques, using questionnaire and interview using needs analysis. The findings show that Animaker was able to be developed into media of teaching using the research method and needs analysis. The result of the research was the animation video that the teacher can use as the teaching media of descriptive text for the tenth grade students of vocational high school.
