Abstract
Mangrove forest coastal in Kuala Langsa is overgrown with various mangrove species that potentially to absorb the heavy metal content of Pb, Cu, and Zn derived from urban waste, ports, industry, agriculture, and aquaculture. This study aimed to determine the absorption of heavy metals in several mangrove species, namely Rhizophora mucronata and Sonnetaria alba, and to determine the environmental conditions of heavy metal pollution in the region. This research method is descriptive with survey techniques. The locations include Station 1 and Station 2, which
are at the end of the Kuala Langsa River. The sample used is sediment, breath root, and leaves of mangrove plants. Analysis of heavy metals Pb, Cu, and Zn was carried out with the Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the Pb, Cu and Zn metals had not been
contaminated Kuala Langsa because the metal content was very low below the CCME 2001 quality standard. Sediment analysis, breath roots, and leaves of Rhizophora mucronata and Sonnetaria alba showed that Pb and Cu were < 0.0001 ppm and <0.0008 ppm. Analysis of sediments, breath roots, and leaves of Rhizophora mucronata showed Zn content sequentially 0.448, <0.001, and 13.6. Analysis of sediments, breath roots, and Sonnetaria alba leaves showed
Zn content sequentially 20,927, <0.001, and 4,913.
