Abstract
Purpose in this study is to determine the competence of economic teachers in Medan based on the status of certification and non-certification. This study was conducted using secondary data. Data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis (independent sample t-test and ANOV A). In general, no significant differences were found in each competency test which includes pedagogical
competence, professional competence and combined competence. Specifically for certified teachers who have found that there are differences in pedagogical, profesional competence and combined competence based on the age of teachers.
