DEVELOPING STUDENTS' WORKSHEET OF VOCABULARY FOR SMP STUDENTS GRADE VII

This study aims at designing Student’s Worksheet of Vocabulary for Students’ of Junior High School Grade VII. The subject of this research was 2017/2018 students of VII grade of SMP Swasta Cipta Karya Medan. The number of students was 30 students. The research was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design through ten stages; there are: research and informing collecting, planning, developing preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, operational product revision, operational field testing, final product revision, dissemination and implementation. The instruments for collecting the data were qustionnaire and interview. Preliminary form of product were taken from the validators, they were the lecturer of English Education Program and the teacher who taught in the students of VII grade at SMP Swasta Cipta Karya. At this stage, the researcher encountered some experts, the researcher gave the assessment paper in the review of the 20 indicators. When researcher did field testing, the researcher got the students’ needs. The researcher found that students’ got dificulties to understand vocabulary in conventional student’s worksheet, which were considered to design new student’s worksheet. The products have been validated by experts. In overal rating, the score are 84 from English Lecturer and 89 from English Teacher. It shows the average score given by the experts is 86.5%. It means the developing of student’s worksheet is appropriate to improve students skill in learning English.
