Abstract
This study attempted to answer the three problems of study as follows: 1. What are the translation methods used in Indonesian translated version of technical text?; 2. What translation method is dominantly used by the translator in Indonesian translated version of technical text?; and 3. Is the form of the Indonesian translated version in technical text acceptable? In conducting the study, a qualitative research method was applied in analyzing the available data in order to be able to define, classify and describe them. The method employed in this study was descriptive method in which the data were collected, analyzed, and concluded. The findings showed that there were three kinds of translation methods applied by the translators in the translated version, as proposed by Newmark, namely communicative (250 sentences = 84.2%), literal (43 sentences = 14.5%) and semantic (4 sentences = 1.3%). The dominant translation method used was communicative translation methods. It was considered that the form of Indonesian translated version of technical text was acceptable in the Indonesian language since it covered the consideration of acceptability in translation: equivalency, accuracy, and naturalness.
