Abstract
The research was conducted upon SMA Negeri 17 Medan. The objective of research was to describe the conditions of emotional quotient of chemistry teacher. To describe the chemistry learning which was packed by emotional quotient, and to describe the competency activity of chemistry teacher according to their emotional quotient. The research used qualitative method.Collecting the research data didi by using quisioner, and interview instrument. That instrument used after validitying. With four answer choices. The population of research was all chemistry teachers, whereas the style of taeching alsoo impact where always conditioning the positive emotional. So in teaching that do not find the chemistry teacher emotions in classroom anymore. That condition effected by emotional quotient of teacher. After analyzing the data,it sould be conncluded the conditions emotional quotient of teachers are not totally good, the learning chemistry in SMA Negeri 17 Medan has not packed well yet, and the competency activity of chemistry teacher are not tolally good. It sould be seen that some of them has not had the knowledge and mutual realizing good yet of the importance the emotionalquotient in learning chemistry.
