Abstract
This thesis deals with the analysis of exchange structure in Antigone plays which was written by Sophocles Oedipus. The objective of the thesis is to describe the pattern of exchange, specially the study investigate the structure of interaction or move, describing the relationship between the speech function and mood, and describing the influence of social context in the process of interaction. All scenes of this plays were analyzed in terms of dialogue_ Content analysis was applied in analyzing the data. The findings of analysis indicate that there were moves in the play. However, the moves were not realized fully as the structures in the theory of conversation. The dialogue was not about the asking and giving question, but debating the opinion. Thus, the response was not necessary the answer of the questions. The relationship between speech function and mood was closed. Then, social context of this play influenced the structure of interaction in the dialogue. In accordance with the findings, it can be beneficial to the language users in conducting interaction in community.
