AFILIASI POLITIK ETNIS TIONGHOA DI KOTA MEDAN DALAM PEMILIHAN GUBERNUR SUMATERA UTARA 2013

Medan has a high level of plurality both in spreading of ethnic and religion. The absence of ethnic majority in Medan city causes the using of politics based on ethnic often happens in the local politics to get the biggest power. Although as minority, Medan Tionghoa ethnic has special superiority; such as having a huge amount of capital to run business in Medan city and has position as the third biggest ethnic after Java and batak ethnic. This research used the approach of political anthropology to see how the affiliation of Tionghoa ethnic in the election of North Sumatera governor in 2013. The result of this research shows that the affiliation of Tionghoa ethnic in Medan city in the election of North Sumatera governor was directed to two pairs; they are the pair of Gatot Pujo Nughroho and Tengku Erry Nuradi and the pair of Efendi Simbolon and Jumiran Abdi. The politics affiliation of Tionghoa ethnic in the election of North Sumatera governor generally based on two reasons. The first, the politics affiliation of Tionghoa ethnic is related to the nearness of ideology of the political party and the spread of Tionghoa ethnic who have position in that party. The second, the politics of kinship, because of both the kinship based on the similarity of organization, and the kinship as businessmen, as well as the kinship because of the same clan. All this kinship becomes the foundation for the Tionghoa ethnic to choose the pair of Gatot Pujo Nughroho and Tengku Erry Nuradi and the pair of Efendi Simbolon and Jumiran Abdi.
