Abstract
The study deals with class discrimination and social critiques in Andrew Niccol’s dystopian fiction movie In Time. The focus of this study is on five faces of oppression and kinds of social ctitiques in which the objectives of this study are to provide description of how class discrimination manifested and to find out the social critiques which are being conveyed in Andrew Niccol’s In Time. This study is conducted by using descriptive analysis with qualitative method while the data is collected by using documentary technique. The findings show that class discrimination is manifested through five faces of oppression, the five are exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural imperialism and violence while the social critiques found are politic, economic and social critique (moral & behavior). From the findings it is concluded that the explicit manifestation of a phenomenon with a crtitique regarding social aspect attachs to dystopian fiction purpose.
