Abstract
This study dealt with the analysis of Maxim Violation in “Johnny English Reborn” movie. The objectives of the study were in finding out the most dominant maxim violation used in Johnny Enlsih Reborn movie, and to realization of maxim violation in Johnny English Reborn movie by using Grice’s theory of Cooperative Principle. The sutdy was conducted by qualitative method. The data were taken from the script of “Johnny English Reborn” movie and limited only on the main character’s dialagues named Johnny English. The analysis showed there are four type maxim violated; 4 (20%) Maxim of Quantity, 6 (30%) Maxim of Quality, 7(35%) Maxim of Relation and 3 (15&) Maxim of Manner. Maxim Quality was the dominant type violated (35%). In analyzing the data the writer found the hearer mostly didn’t understand the main character said due to many reasons for example lying, changing the topic, tried to answer in the funny way, and babbling.
