Abstract
This study dealt with the effect of using PBL on the students’ achievement in writing argumentative text. The research was conducted by experimental design. The population of this study was the 2016/2017 students of the Grade X of Al- Nizam Medan. The number of the students was 60 students as a total sample. This sample was divided into 2 classes, experimental and control classes. Each of the class consisted of 30 students. The data of this study were collected by test. It was writing test. The data were analyzed by t-test, the result of the research showed that tobserved was higher than ttable (6.05 > 2.00) with df = 58 at level of significant 0.05 was 2.000. The result of research showed that using PBL significantly affected the students' achievement in writing argumentative text. It means that the alternative hypothesis or Ha was accepted.
