Abstract
The growing interest in reading tends to firstly come from the class. So is the ability to read quickly, it is mostly influenced by reading instructional program that is run by the teacher. Thus, the teacher is the key figure for the development of reading abilities and interests of students. In terms of lack of ability to read quickly among the children, it should be assumed that the ability of teachers to create programs and effective method of learning to read and relevant to the real needs of the students is still low. The low component is one of the factors that cause the low reading skills of students quickly. In this case, the lower the ability to read quickly directly related to programs and teaching methods that are less qualified teachers. Learning to read in SDN 138432 dan SDN 135910 Sei Merbau Sub Teluk Nibung until now have not been up and on the verge of not being conducive to develop speed reading abilities and interests of students. This condition is suspected as a result of the lack of effective methods and instructional designs that are run by the teachers. As a result, the activity of reading into leads to be ineffective, boring, unattractive, and not challenging. Should the required learning speed reading teacher is able to design / program design and methods appropriate to the learning objectives, the level of student progress, student competencies, interests and levels of reading proficiency. With the problems of learning to read quickly, it takes training and mentoring activities Indonesian teachers in order to improve the professionalism of teachers in designing learning speed reading and help teachers to transform the vision of learning to read than conventional methods to Speed Reading method. Innovation is not only the expected useful assist teachers in improving the quality of teaching reading but also useful in developing interest and improves students ability to read quickly. The target of this activity is the partners have the skills to design learning speed reading program that is ready to be implemented at the classroom level. Further outcomes or products of these activities are: (1) The handbook quick read with speed reading method as a reference for teachers to improve the learning speed reading in elementary school, (2) design learning speed reading SDN Indonesian teacher quality SDN 138432 dan SDN 135910 Sei Merbau Sub Teluk Nibung District Tanjung Balai. There are two alternative activities that are considered relevant to solve the service problems. They are: (1) Preparation of manual reading speed and reading methods, so that teachers receive guidance in designing a program of learning to read faster with the interests and needs of developing literacy learners; (2) Training and mentoring: rapid development of reading instructional design include: design and development of syllabus, teaching materials read design, development indicators, learning scenarios, and developing assessment instruments. The event was held for 3 (three) months from August s/d October 2013 in SDN 138432 dan SDN 135910 Sei Merbau Sub Teluk Nibung District Tanjung Balai.
