THE FLOUTING OF MAXIMS IN JUST ALVIN TALK SHOW PROGRAM

The study deals with the types of maxims flouting in Just Alvin Talk Show Program by the host and the starguests. The objectives of study are to describe the flouting of maxims, to describe the dominant type of maxim flouting and to elaborate the context of conversation in flouting the maxims. The data is the dialogue of the host and the starguest in Just Alvin Talk Show Program, episode , “ In Memoriam Ustad Jefri Albuqory”, and “ The Journalist”. This research is conducted by using descriptive qualitative design and limited on the host and the starguests. The data analysis result shows there are 5 flouting of maxim of quality, 19 flouting of maxim of quantity, 9 flouting of maxim of relation, and 7 flouting of maxim of manner. The reason of the flouting are to give the lack evidence, to lying to other speaker in hiding the truth to avoid being arrogant , to present the strongest information, to represent what is in the speaker’s mind, or to avoid someone become offended
