Abstract
This study was conducted to answer the research problem that is Is the dictogloss technique significantly able to improve the students achievement in listening comprehension? The design of the study was an action research. The samples of the study were taken from the students in XI-IPA 7 of SMA Negeri 13 Medan. The quantitative data was taken from the test that is showed in the written test and the qualitative data was from diary notes, observation sheet, questionnaire sheet and interview. The data of the test shows that the mean of the score is improved from the first meeting until the last meeting, those are 79,68 to 87,55 to 93,19. Therefore, it can be concluded that the using of dictogloss technique on listening skill is able to improve the students achievement in listening comprehension. Then, based on the resul of this research, it is suggested to the English teachers to apply this technique in the listening class. Meanwile, the writer hopes that the other researchers can use the findings as the basic to conduct other the research designs.
