Abstract
The objective of this study is to find out whether snowball throwing model could significantly improve students speaking achievement in narrative text. This study was conducted classroom action research. The subject of this research was the second grade of SMP Swasta Taman Harapan Medan which consisted of 39 students. The research conducted two cycles. The first cycle consisted of three meetings and second cycle consisted of three meetings. The instruments of collecting the data consist of quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative data consist of speaking test and the qualitative data consists of observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, and diary notes. Based on the analysis, students achievement was improved in every test. In test I, the mean score was 64.44. In test II in cycle I, the mean score was 68.92, and in the test III in cycle II, the mean score was 74.15. Based on the observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, and diary notes, it was found that there was an improvement in teaching learning process. The students were more active and enthusiastic in working in group. It was concluded that Snowball Throwing Model can improve the students speaking achievement in narrative text.
