THE ILLOCUTIONARY ACTS OF LUFFY�

The objective of this study is aimed to find out the dominant types of Illocutionary Acts of Luffy’s Utterances to His Addressees in Chapters 597-601 of Comic entitled One Piece. This study is conducted by using a descriptive qualitative research design. The data of this study was collected by using documentary technique. The source of the data was the comic entitled One Piece. After reading the comic, the data were identified and classified in details based on five types of illocutionary acts, namely Representative, Directive, Commissive, Expressive, and Declarative and put it into the table. After analyzing the illocutionary acts of Luffy’s utterances that occur in comic One Piece, the total utterances that contains illocutionary acts are 90 utterances. The most frequency is Representative occurs 41 utterances(45,55%). Directive occurs 24 utterances (26,67%). Expressive occurs 18 utterances(20%). Declarative occurs 4 utterances(4,44%). Commissive occurs 3 utterances(3,33%). Representative is proved to be the most dominantly type that used of Luffy’s utterances in chapters 597-601 of One Piece comic.
