Abstract

Social science (IPS) is one of the subjects in elementary school. It consists of several specific social sciences, such as Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Social Psychology, History, Geography, Economy and Politics. By learning social science, it’s hoped that the students will act the social skill, good character, creative and be responsible. But the fact shows that until this time the aims of this social science can’t be achieved yet. It’s often that the teachers find the students are not clever, creative, participative, prospective and don’t have good responsibility in the learning process specifically to study the social science. A professional teacher should have the ability to overcome all these students’ problems. There are some learning models that can be chosen to improve the intelligence, creativity, participation, prospective and increase the sense of students’ responsibility. One of those learning models is portopolio, in which the students are required to be active, creative, participative and responsible as long as the learning process.
