Abstract

The study was an action research which was intended to develop ESP subjects for chemistry students at FMIPA UNIMED, in order to increase student motivation and student achievements to they will be able to complete in market place. The students were classified into intermediate (score ranges from 85 to 100) and elementary (score ranges from 60 to 84) groups based on their placement test results. The intermediate group consisted of 30 regular and extension chemistry students selected randomly and the elementary group were also 30 students selected from regular and extension students. The intermediate and the elementary students were divided into two groups i.e. 15 students respectively selected randomly from intermediate and elementary groups and treated as an experimental group. The remained 30 students from both the intermediate and elementary groups were treated as a control group. In order to evaluate students progress, it was carried out quises, mid-term test and final examination. The results showed that students achievement was considerably high for the experimental group (the average score was 93.5) compared with the control group who was taught with ESP Modul and CAI compared with the control group, taught with conventional method.
