THE EFFECT OF CONCEPT MAP ON STUDENTS LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT IN HUMAN SKELETAL SYSTEM GRADE XI IPA SMA UISU MEDANACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014

The objectives of this study are to find out: The effect of Concept Map approach on students learning achievement in human skeletal system topic. A quasi experimental research with post-test only control group design was used in this study. The population of this study was all of grade XI IPA students of SMA SWASTA UISU Medan. There were 2 classes chosen as the sample by applying cluster random sampling technique. Experimental class was taught by Concept Map approach while control class was taught by traditional approach. The instruments used to obtain the data were observation sheet form of multiple choices as test instrument. The test instrument data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of hypothesis test for the post test showed that t-count = 8.180 > t-table = 1.669 at the level significance of 0.05, means that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. It can be concluded that there is an effect of Concept Map approach on students learning achievement. Learning achievement of students that taught with Concept Map approach showed better results than students that taught with traditional approach. On the whole, Concept map approach gave good effect to students learning achievement in human skeletal system topic for grade XI IPA SMA SWASTA UISU Medan academic year 2013/2014.
