Abstract

This study was conducted in Medan State for the purpose of knowing the degree of teachers’ information technologi and skill and knowledge.Sample was taken by stratified random sampling out of the population that consisted of secondary vocational education (SMK) teachers in three vocational fields . Data was taken by using instrument the constructed and tried-out before and it was analized by SPSS program.The result of this research showed that the vocational teachers realize the value or the usefulness of information technology in their program.They didn’t have the necessary skill and knowledge to use it effectively for instructional purposes.Though teachers value the internet and other type of information technologi, their full understanding of the interrelatedness of information technology to program quality may yet to be realized.Vocational teachers have average levels of both general and software specific information technologi knowledge and skill.Teachers use self-directed training,personal experience, written materials and in-servise provided by school or state agencis as their primary sourse of training.Teachers must continue to value information technology and seek ways to connect program and intructional management with appropriate informaation technology,especially the internet.
