Abstract
Scientific inquiry adalah model pembelajaran yang melibatkan siswa dalam masalah penelitian yang benar-benar orisinil dengan cara menghadapkan mereka pada bidang investigasi, membantu mereka mengidentifikasi masalah konseptual atau metodologis dalam bidang itu, dan mengajak mereka merancang memecahkan masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran scientific inquiry berbasis pictorial riddle terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi pokok cahaya.Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lubukpakam yang terdiri dari 8 kelas. Sampel penelitian diambil 2 kelas yang ditentukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling, yaitu Kelas VIII-E sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran scientific inquiry berbasis pictorial riddle dan kelas VIII-D sebagai kelas kontrol, dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ada 2, yaitu pertama tes hasil belajar dalam bentuk pilihan berganda sebanyak 20 soal yang telah dinyatakan valid dan instrumen yang kedua adalah lembar observasi aktifitas belajar siswa pada pembelajaran dengan penerapan scientific inquiry berbasis pictorial riddle.Dari hasil penelitian nilai rata-rata pretes kelas eksperimen adalah 31,53 dan pada kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai rata-rata pretes 30,81. Setelah dilakukan perlakuan pada masing-masing kelas diperoleh rata-rata nilai postes pada kelas dengan pembelajaran scientific inquiry berbasis pictorial riddle sebesar 76,39 sedangkan siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional diperoleh nilai rata-rata postes siswa 69,86. Begitu juga dengan hasil pengamatan aktivitas belajar siswa yang diamati pada penerapan pembelajaran scientific inquiry berbasis pictorial riddle mengalami peningkatan. Pada pertemuan I nilai rata
