Abstract

The pherosperity of poor families to provide food according for the nutritional
adeguacy decreases. For nutritional problems continue, it is necessary to formulate an
appropriate plan of food consumption by the purchasing power of poor families. The objective of
the study was to analyze food consumption optimalization for under five years children (4-5
month) in poor family. The study design was a cross-sectional study. Research was conducted
in Tegalsari Mandala | village, Medan Denai district, Medan city, in February - July 2009.
Respondent are all households that have under five years in that village. Data was collected on
socio economic and demographic data, food expenditure and food intake. An Individual energy
adeguacy level was calculated by comparing actual intake to RDA (Recommended Dietary
Allowances). The goal programming method was applied to analyze food consumption
optimalization. Results showed there are 23 food types for food consumption combination in
one week. Per capita Food expenditure is Rp 4,194.- with G1 as a lower level and 03 as a
upper level. Solution of goal programing result energi and protein adeguacy level between 90-
11096, and » 7796 for vitamin and mineral.
