Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Mengetahui hasil tes kemampuan spasial siswa pada model problem based learning 2) mengetahui lintasan berpikir siswa SMA Negeri 1 Panyabungan Timur dalam menyelesaikan masalah spasial pada model problem based learning. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XII MIA SMA Negeri 1 Panyabungan Timur sebanyak 30 orang. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian adalah tes kemampuan spasial dan pedoman wawancara. Subjek untuk wawancara dipilih sebanyak 6 orang berdasarkan dengan tingkat kemampuan spasial matematisnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Tingkat kemampuan spasial pada siswa berkemampuan tinggi memiliki proporsi tertinggi yaitu sebanyak 10 siswa, diikuti pada siswa berkemampuan sedang 14 siswa dan berkemampuan rendah sebanyak 6 siswa. Jadi, persentase tingkat kemampuan spasial siswa dengan kemampuan ‘tinggi’ sebanyak 33,3%; kemampuan ‘sedang’ sebanyak 46,6%; dan kemampuan ‘rendah’ sebanyak 20%. 2) Tahapan lintasan berpikir yang dimiliki oleh siswa sesuai dengan hasil dan temuan pada penelitian ini adalah visualisasi, analisis, deduksi informal, deduksi dan rigor yang akan dilewati sebagai titik lintasan berpikir siswa. Pada lintasan berpikir untuk siswa yang berkemampuan spasial tinggi biasanya dapat memahami dan menjawab soal dengan waktu yang relatif lebih cepat untuk soal yang paling mudah dan sulit. Sedangkan untuk siswa yang yang memiliki kemampuan spasial sedang dapat menyelesaikan soal yang mudah dengan cepat akan tetapi mengalami kesulitan pada soal yang sulit, siswa juga berusaha memahami dan menjawab soal yang diberikan dengan waktu yang agak cepat. Dan siswa yang memiliki tingkat kemampuan spasial yang rendah cukup lama untuk soal yang paling mudah apalagi yang sulit.
