Abstract

This study was about Students’ Descriptive Writing in Conjunction of Vocational High School at SMK SWASTA PAB 12 Saentis. The aim of this study were to to analyze the types of conjunction used by vocational high school students in their descriptive writing and to describe how does the students uses conjunction in their descriptive writing. This research used qualitative research. The data were collected from collecting descriptive writing by the students. The data was analyzed based on Miles, Huberman & Saldana (2014). The results of this study
were the following (1) The types of conjunction which were used by the students in writing descriptive text are additive, adversative, and causal. In additive conjunction (86.78%) was the predominant of conjunction used by the students in descriptive writing compared to other types. Adversative conjunction (6.61%) is the same amount with causal conjunction (6.61%). (2) There are 3 types of conjunctions used by students in this study, but not all of them are used according to the theory. Such as conjunctions but, that should be used to show the
contradiction between the idea, but in this study the students use it as an affirmation of the idea in their descriptive writing.
