Abstract

This was a research and development (R&D) study aimed to develop the English Listening Test based on the learning instrument of curriculum 2013, Islamic Boarding School foundation goals and Heaton’s test construction. This study focused on designing the listening test for grade 11 at SMA Swasta Galih Agung Darularafah Raya Islamic Boarding School students, Laubakery, Deli Serdang, North Sumatera. The data for designing test was collected from the textbook, learning instruction and the result of observation. Based on the result of observation, the listening test given before only about listening to the songs. Then the test recommended was designed with four sections with special directions for every part. The recommended test was 30 questions. After the test have been validated by the experts, the designed test was tested to the student to measure the construct validity using the product momment correlation formula. The result of the construct validity was 0,936 which already valid enough to be considered as a good test.
