Abstract

This study attempted to improve students’ achievement in reading report textthrough the application of Think Pair Share strategy. This study was conducted byusing classroom action research. The subject of the research was class X-2 ofSMA Negeri 1 Binjai that consists of 40 students. The instrument of collectingdata used quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data were taken frommultiple choice test. Based on reading test scores, students’ students’ score keptimproved in every test. In the orientation test, the mean of students’ score in thefirst cycle was 52.75, in the post test cycle I the mean of the students’ score was66.75 and in the post test cycle II the mean of the students’ score was 80.25.Based on the observation sheet and diary notes, it was found that teachinglearning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic and interested inreading. The result of the research showed that Think Pair Share strategy couldimprove students’ achievement in reading report text
