Abstract

This study deals with the Effect of using SPORE Strategy on the Students Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text. The objective of this study is to find out if the spore strategy significantly affects the students reading comprehension of narrative text. It uses experimental research. The population of this research was the 2011/2012 students of the eight grade of MtsS Al-Wasliyah Gading Tanjung Balai. The sample was 60 students of the two classes were randomly chosen as the representative of the population. They were divided into two groups, 30 students in Experimental group and 30 in control group. The experimental group was taught using spore strategy while the control group was taught by using without spore strategy (conventional). The data of this study were collected by using the test. It was a teacher made test which consisted of 30 items. The type of test was multiple choice tests. It was given in pre-test and pos-test. After collecting the data, then the writer analyzed them by using t-test. The findings showed that the t-obs was 2.95 and t-table was 2.002 (p =0.05) it means that t-obs is higher than the t-table (2.95>2.002; p=0.05). It proved that there was a significant effect of using SPORE Strategy on students reading comprehension of narrative text.
