Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a students’ worksheet based on Inquiry-
Based Learning (IBL) using Augmented Reality (AR) for teaching descriptive text
to Grade X students. This study used Research and Development (R&D) design by
adopting Borg and Gall’s (2007) model. The data were collected through a needs
analysis questionnaire distributed to 32 students and expert validation involving
two experts. The needs analysis results showed that students had difficulties in
writing descriptive texts, especially in generating ideas, choosing appropriate
vocabulary, using correct grammar, and understanding the generic structure.
Students also stated that they needed learning activities with clear guidance, visual
support, and step-by-step writing practice. In addition, most students showed
positive responses toward AR-based learning because it helps them observe objects
clearly and generate ideas more easily. Based on these findings, a worksheet was
developed using the 5E stages of Inquiry-Based Learning (Engage, Explore,
Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate) integrated with AR media. The worksheet was
validated in four aspects: language, content, presentation, and layout. The results
showed that the worksheet was categorized as “Very Good.” The language aspect
obtained average scores of 4.75 and 4.88. The content aspect gained 4.25 and 4.50.
The presentation aspect obtained 4.71 and 4.86, while the layout aspect gained 4.71
from both validators. These findings indicate that the developed worksheet is
feasible and appropriate to be used as instructional material to support students in
learning descriptive writing.
