Abstract

This study aims to determine how the pedagogic competence of high school chemistry teacher Padangsidimpuan In the City, the relationship between teachers pedagogical competence chemistry with chemistry students learning outcomes, and how big contribution of chemistry teachers pedagogical competence against the learning outcomes of students in the City Padangsidimpuan chemistry. The study included all high schools in the City Padangsidimpuan. The sample in this study were all chemistry teacher who taught in science classes XI and as many as 19 people a class XI student IPA of 60 people. Research instruments consisted of questionnaires, observation, and test results of learning in the form of multiple-choice standardized. Chemistry teachers pedagogical competence of the data obtained using observation by analyzing the document in readiness of teachers to teach chemistry, a questionnaire filled out by teachers of chemistry and filled according to the perceptions of students, while studying chemistry student outcome data obtained from tests on the subject of chemical equilibria and learning scenarios to be used by is a chemistry teacher who has been compiled by researchers. Data analysis techniques are used to help Microsoft Exel and SPSS version 12. From the analysis of the data showed no relationship between student perceptions of teachers pedagogic competence chemistry with chemistry students learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the significance of ANOVA table where the price of significance (probability) 0.245> 0.05. Obstacles that teachers face in teaching chemistry, among others; most schools have not been able to develop learning tools based on student characteristics and local conditions, lack of teachers use the school facilities and learning of chemistry such as laboratories, libraries and computers. It is recommended to teachers of chemistry in order to further enhance the pedagogic competence in teaching
