ANALISIS MODEL JAWABAN ATAS PERTANYAAN YES-NO QUESTION SISWA SMA NEGERI KOTA MEDAN

The objectives of this research are to find out various model or categories of answers of Yes/No Questions of the State Senior High School students of Kota medan and to find out the tendency of the answers. The population of the research is State Senior High School students of Kota medan. The population is grouped into favorite, less favorite and not favorite school. The sampel is taken trough stratified clustered random samplin technique. Based on this technique, there are 6 school and two for each group. The total student sample taken is 475 student stributed. The technique for collecting data is done by recording the dialog and documenting the dialogue script. The use of dialogue scripts is to add, extend and enrich the data as well. The data are analyzed by descriptive quantitative. The result of the research shows 1) The categories of the students answers of Yes/No question are distrubuted variously in terms of the six categories. However, the distribution of the answers is not proportional among the categories. 2) The dominant distribution of the answer is the third category with the formula Yes/No+ additional information such as confirming, suporting, etc reaching 30.34% of the total answer whereas the least dominate is the sixth and fourth categories respectively reaching 5,86% and 4,42%. In line with the result of the research, it is recommended that 1) Teachers of senior high school should be accustomed to use the various answers of Yes/No question while communicating with the students, 2) Student of senior high school should always communicate contextually in order to answer the Yes/No question, and 3) Book writers should make a complete and various answers of Yes/No question in order to enrich and enlarge the students understanding and skill in answering the yes/no question.
