Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Perbedaan hasil belajar mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dengan hasil belajar mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model PBL, (2) Perbedaan antara karakter mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dengan karakter mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model PBL, (3) Hubungan antara karakter terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa, (4) Ranah kognitif yang terkembangkan dari model-model pembelajaran tersebut, dan (5) Model pembelajaran yang paling optimal yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan karakter mahasiswa. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Kimia Fakultas Tarbiyah IAIN Ar-Raniry angkatan 2011/2012. Seluruh populasi digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian dan dibagi menjadi dua kelas eksperimen. Kelas eksperimen I diberi pembelajaran inkuiri yang diintegrasikan dengan media pembelajaran Exelearning dan kelas eksperimen II diberi pembelajaran PBL yang diintegrasikan dengan media pembelajaran Exelearning. Hasil belajar diukur dengan instrument tes hasil belajar. Untuk mengukur pembentukan karakter mahasiswa digunakan lembar observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas dan dan uji hipotesis. Uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan independent Sample T Test dan Coleration Product Moment pada taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 dengan menggunakan program SPSS-17. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Terdapat perbedaan yang sangat signifikan antara hasil belajar mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dengan hasil belajar mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model PBL, (2) Terdapat perbedaaan yang sangat signifikan antara karakter berpikir kritis dan kreativitas mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dengan karakter berpikir kritis dan kreativitas mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model PBL serta tidak terdapat perbedaaan yang signifikan antara karakter kemandirian dan tanggung jawab mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dengan karakter kemandirian dan tanggung jawab kemandirian mahasiswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model PBL. (3) Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara karakter terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa yang belajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri dan model PBL. (4) Ranah kognitif yang terkembangkan dari kedua kelas eksperimen ini adalah C3. (5) Model pembelajaran yang paling optimal yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar mahasiswa dan menghasilkan sikap berpikir kritis serta kreativitas yang terbaik adalah model pembalajaran inkuiri, sedangkan yang dapat menghasilkan sikap kemandirian dan tanggung jawab yang terbaik adalah model PBL.

The aim of this study is to know (1) Differences between the learning outcomes of students that learned to use the inquiry learning model with learning outcomes of student that learned using the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL), (2) Difference between the character of critical thinking and creativity students that learned to use the inquiry learning model with the character of critical thinking and creativity that students that learned to use the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL), (3) Relationship between the character with learning outcomes of students who are teaching using inquiry learning model and the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL), (4) The cognitive develop of two experimental classes, (5) The most optimal learning model to improve learning outcomes and build character. The population of this research is the student of Chemical Education Study Program of Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Ar-Raniry two classes. The whole population is used as the study sample, and divided into two classes of experiment. The experimental class I was treated by using inquiry learning model integrated with exelearning media and the experimental class II was treated by using learning model Problem Based Learning (PBL) integrated with exelearning media. The learning outcomes measured by achievement test instrument. To measure the character formation of students used observation sheet. The technique of data analysis using normality test, homogeneity test and, hypotheses test. Hypothesis testing is conducted by using independent sample t test and coleration product moment on the significance level α = 0,05 with SPSS-17. The results showed that: (1) There are significant differences between the learning outcomes of students that learned to use the inquiry learning model with learning outcomes of student that learned using the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL), (2) There is a significant difference between the character of critical thinking and creativity students that learned to use the inquiry learning model with the character of critical thinking and creativity that students that learned to use the model of Problem Based Learning and there is no significant difference between the character of independence and responsibility that students s that learned to use the inquiry learning model with the character of independence and responsibility that students s that learned to use the model of Problem Based Learning (3) There is a significant relationship between the character with learning outcomes of students who are teaching using inquiry learning model and the model of Problem Based Learning (PBL). (4) The cognitive develop of two experimental classes are C3. (5) The most optimal learning model to improve learning outcomes and build the studentsí critical thinking character and creativity is inquiry learning model and the most optimal learning model for increasing independence and responsibility characters is model of Problem Based Learning.
