Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pemberian umpan batik dan gaya kognitif terhadap hasil belajar biologi siswa SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain faktorial 2x2. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP Negeri 1
This research was aimed to find out the influence of giving feedback and ognitive style toward studentss achievement on Biology of the students of SMP. his research used quasi-experimental Method with random factorial design of 2 x 2. he population of this research was the second-year students of SMP Negeri I with the umber of 103 students. The sample was 66 students of the population determined by sing cluster-random sampling. The istruments of this research were the test of ognitive style and the test of students achievement on Biology. The test used for the ognitive style was the one developed by Whitkin, at all. Namely Group Embedded igures Test (GEFT). The test used for the students achievement was constructed used on the criteria of the achievement test that goes with the 1994 GBPP of the econd year in first semester and was tried-out. The result of the try-out showed that 5 test items of 60 were valid. The reliability of the test was, r 0,9227, adapted from pearman Browns and was classified high.
The hypotheses were : a. There is difference in achievement on Biology etween the students given immediate feedback and the students given postponed eedback., b. There is difference in achievement on Biology between the students aving field dependent (FD) cognitive style and the students having field independent FI) cognitive style, and c. There is interaction between giving feedback and cognitive tyle to influence the achievement of SMP students on Biology. The technique used to nalyze the data was variant analysis ( anava ) of two ways and continued with double-omparison test namely Scheffe Test at the level of α = 0,05. The result of the test hawed that there is difference in achievement on Biology between the students given mmediate feedback and the students given postponed feedback., there is difference in chievement on Biology between the students having field dependent (FD) cognitive tyle and the students having field independent (Fl) cognitive style, and there is nteraction between giving feedback and cognitive style to influence the students chievement on Biology.
The implication of this research is that the teachers in teaching should identify heir students characteristics such as their cognitive style and suit their teaching. Students with FD cognitive style goes with the immediate feedback and those with the I cognitive style goes with the postponed feedback.
