Description:

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan brain based learning dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa, (2) mengetahui perbedaan motivasi siswa terhadap matematika antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan brain based learning dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa, (3) mendeskripsikan ragam jawaban siswa dalam soal-soal pemecahan masalah matematika untuk masing-masing pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasieksperimen.Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Cerdas Murni Tembung. Variabel-variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah penerapan pembelajaran brain based learning dan pembelajaran biasa sebagai variabel bebas, sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah: (1) tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, (2) angket motivasi siswa terhadap matematika. Sedangkan perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah: (1) Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), (2) Lembar Aktivitas Siswa (LAS). Instrumen tersebut dinyatakan telah memenuhi validitas isi serta koefisien reliabilitas tes pemecahan masalah sebesar 0,817 dan angket motivasi siswa terhadap matematika 0,898.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan brain based learning lebih baik dari siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa. Besarnya nilai signifikan yang diperoleh dari Uji-tdengan taraf sgnifkan 5% maka didapat thitung = 3,994 > ttabel = 1,994. (2) motivasi siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan brain based learning lebih baik daripada yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa. Besarnya nilai signifikan yang diperoleh dari Uji-tdengan taraf signifikan 5% maka didapat thitung = 2,552 > ttabel = 1,994. (3) proses jawaban siswa dalam pembelajaran brain based learninglebih teraturjika dibandingkan dengan proses jawaban siswa dalam pembelajaran biasa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitan ini, maka peneliti menyarankan agar pendekatan brain based learning dapat dijadikan alternatif bagi guru matematika untuk dikembangkan sebagai salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa serta menumbuhkan motivasitinggi siswa terhadap matematika.

This study aims to: (1) determine the increase math problem solving skills among students who received learning with brain -based learning approach with students receiving regular learning, (2) determine differences in students motivation toward mathematics between students who received learning brain based learning approach with students who earn ordinary learning, (3) describe the range of students answers in problems solving math problems for each lesson. This study is a quasi-experimental study. The population was eighth grade students Private SMP Smart Pure Tembung. The variables in this research is the application of the learning brain based learning and regular learning as independent variables, while the dependent variable is the students mathematical problem solving ability. The instruments used are: (1) tests the ability of solving the problem, (2) students mathematics motivation questionnaire. While learning tools used are : (1) Lesson Plan (RPP), (2) Student Activity Sheet (LAS). The instrument herewith complies with the content validity and test reliability coefficient of 0.817 and problem solving students mathematics motivation questionnaire 0.898. The results showed that: (1) increasing the students problem-solving abilities gained by learning brain based learning approach is better than the students who received regular lessons . The amount of significant value obtained from the t-test with 5 % level sgnifkan then obtained t = 3.994 > table = 1.994. (2) motivate students to acquire learning brain based learning approach is better than the usual learning gain. The amount of significant value obtained from t-tests with significance level of 5% the obtained t = 2.552 > table = 1.994. (3) the responses of the students in the learning brain based learning is more regular than the responses of the students in the learning process is regular. Based on these research results, the researchers suggested that brain-based learning approach can be used as an alternative for teachers of mathematics to be developed as one approach for effective learning to improve students mathematical problem solving and high motivation of students towards mathematics.
