Description:

This study deals with the improving students achievement in reading comprehension on narrative text through Three Stay One Stray Strategy. The objective of this study is to investigate whether the application of three stay one stray strategy significantly improves the students achievement in reading comprehension on narrative text. The effective of Three Stay One Stray Strategy are to make the students comprehend reading text better, enjoy the reading activity, and to help the teacher conduct an interesting teaching reading learning process. The subject of this research was the students of second grade of SMA Swasta HKBP Sidorame which consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted by applying classroom action research.The data are collected by using qualitative and quantitative data. Based on the reading test result, the students score kept improving in every test. In the orientation test the mean of the students score was 46.88. In the post test cycle I the mean of the students score was 66.22 and in the post test cycle II the mean of the students score was 77.57. The conclusion is that Three Stay One Stray Strategy improves students achievement in reading comprehension on narrative text and it is suggested to the English teacher to apply Three Stay One Stray Strategy in teaching reading Comprehension.
