Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan peningkatan yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Konvensional pada materi bangun datar segi empat kelas VII SMP Negeri 11 Medan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 11 Medan tahun ajaran 2015/2016 sebanyak 398 yang terbagi menjadi 9 kelas. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil sebanyak dua kelas. Pengambilan sampel ditentukan oleh pihak sekolah. Dipilih kelas VII-4 dan VII-3, dimana VII-4 sebagai kelas kontrol yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Konvensional dan kelas VII-3 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS). Objek penelitian ini adalah perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua jenis instrumen yaitu pre-test dan post-test yang telah divalidasi dalam bentuk soal uraian. Pada kelas eksperimen diperoleh rata-rata pre-test sebesar 8,82 dan rata-rata post-test sebesar 16,76 sedangkan pada kelas kontrol deiperoleh rata-rata pre-test 10,45 dan rata-rata post-test 16,55. Selanjutnya diperoleh rata-rata selisih (post-test – pre-test) dari kelas eksperimen sebesar 7,93 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 6,09. Dari hasil analisis selisih data dilakukan uji normalitas dan homogenitas dan terbukti data berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Dari uji hipotesis diperoleh thitung = 2,162. Selanjutnya dengan meninjau harga ttabel pada dk = 87 dan taraf signifikan diperoleh t(0,975)(87) = 1,991. Dengan demikian maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima sehingga disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share (TPS) dibandingkan dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematik siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran Konvensional pada materi bangun datar segi empat kelas VII SMP Negeri 11 Medan.
