Abstract

Masalah penelitian ini adalah apakah dengan menggunakan strategi SQ3R (Survei, Question, Read, Recite, Review) dapat meningkatkan keefektifan membaca buku teks pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia pada materi membandingkan dua buah isi teks di kelas V SD Negeri 106162 Medan Estate T.A 2011/2012. Adapun jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas V SD Negeri 106162 Medan Estate T.A 2011/2012 yang berjumlah 37 siswa yang terdiri dari 18 orang perempuan dan 19 orang laki-laki.Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi.Observasi digunakan untuk melihat tingkat keefektifan siswa dalam membaca buku teks Bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus yaitu siklus I dan siklus II, masing-masingsiklus terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu, perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi,dan refleksi. Satu siklus terdiri dari 2 kali pertemuan. Sebelum dilakukan siklus I, penelitimelakukan observasi serta mendapatkan temuan bahwa keefektifan membaca siswa rendah yaitu secara klasikal keefektifan membaca dari 37 orang siswa terdapat 16 (43,24%) siswa yang efektif membaca dengan rata-rata kelas sebesar 52,29%.Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan keefektifan membaca siswa prasiklus secara klasikal sebesar 52,29% dengan rata-rata kelas sebesar 43,24%. Pada tindakan siklus I secara klasikal sebesar 62,38% dengan rata-rata kelas 67,57%terjadi peningkatan sebesar10,1%. Pada tindakan siklus II menunjukkan keefektifan membaca siswa secara klasikal sebesar 75,1% dengan rata-rata kelas sebesar 89,2% dan terjadi peningkatan sebesar 12,72%.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaanstaregi SQ3R dalam proses belajar mengajar dapat meningkatkan keefektifan membaca siswa pada pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia khususnya pada materi membandingkan dua buah isi teks serta siswa dapat termotivasi dan bersemangat untuk membaca. Oleh karena itu,pembelajaran dengan menggunakan strategi SQ3R dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif pemecahan masalah kurangnya keefektifan siswa membaca buku teks Bahasa Indonesia
