Abstract

Tujuan penelitian dalam desain Eksperimen semu ini menyelidiki peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik siswa, kecerdasan Emosional mahasiswa, dan Interaksi antara pendekatan pembelajaran dengan kemampuan awal siswa terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kecerdasan Emosinal mahasiswa serta proses penyelasaian masalah yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di jurusan pendidikan matematika UNIMED . Penelitian ini merupakan suatu studi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pre-test-post-test control group design.populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan matematika UNIMED semester satu dengan mengambil sampel dua kelas (kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol) melalui teknik random sampling. Data diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan awal matematika, tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik, angket kecerdasan emosional. Data dianalisis dengan uji ANAVA dua jalur. Sebelum digunakan uji ANAVA dua jalur terlebih dahulu dilakukan uji homogenitas dan normalitas dengan taraf signifikan 5%. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata peningkatan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah kelas eksperimen adalah 0,48 dan kelas kontrol adalah 0,38 dengan nilai sig = 0,02, karena 0,02 < &#945; = 0,05 maka terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik mahasiswa yang diajarkan dengan model Pembelajaran IMPROVE lebih tinggi dari pada Pembelajaran Langsung, namun rata-rata peningkatan tes kecerdasan emosional kelas eksperimen dan kontrol adalah 0,03 dan 0,02 dengan mengguanakan uji man – withney p-value (2-tailed) adalah 0,931 dengan 0,931 > &#945; = 0,05 maka Tidak terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kecerdasan Emosional mahasiswa yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran IMPROVE dibandingkan dengan Pembelajaran Langsung, nilai F hitung 1,54 dan nilai signifikan sebesar 0,211 karena 0,211 > 0,05 maka tidak terdapat interaksi antara pendekatan pembelajaran dengan kemampuan awal siswa terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematik mahasiswa, Proses penyelasaian masalah pada mahasiswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran IMPROVE lebih baik dari pada Pembelajaran Langsung. Temuan penelitian merekomendasikan IMPROVE dijadikan salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang digunakan di sekolah ataupun universitas utamanya untuk mencapai kompetensi berpikir tinggi.
